Plex used to be the easy choice for a self-hosted media server. But after years of price hikes, privacy concerns, security issues, and a shift away from personal media, it feels like Plex is no longer built for the people who made it popular.

In this video, I look back at the history of Plex, the rise of Plex Pass, and the new $750 lifetime price. I also explain why Jellyfin now feels like the better long-term choice, and why I am starting #JellyfinJune to move away from Plex for good.
