Botox Is Making Us Numb and Lifeless

Botox, filler, and the frozen face epidemic are everywhere now. Smooth foreheads, puffy lips, dead eyes, expressionless faces, and the strange lifeless look that has become the new beauty standard. We are being told this is self-care but what does it actually mean when women are being encouraged to freeze the very muscles we use to smile, frown, react, laugh, cry, and communicate?

In this video, I’m talking about the numb girl aesthetic: the rise of Botox, filler culture, “preventative Botox,” celebrity and influencer beauty standards, and the pressure women feel to forever chase a younger more artificial version of themselves.
