A Smash Ultimate Switch 2 Edition? Speculation, Pros, Cons

The Nintendo Switch 2 presentation brought several surprises, and one of the biggest has far-reaching implications. The reveal of a sequel to Kirby Air Ride, with Masahiro Sakurai as director, shocked fans everywhere. A huge deal for Kirby fans...that also makes the future of Smash Bros. murkier. Ultimate's issues have stuck out more over the last few years, and with Sakurai in charge of something else right now, it not only limits the potential paths for the next Smash game, it could mean waiting even longer than we thought!

Or...would it?

Also revealed were Switch 2 Editions, next-gen upgrades for games originally developed for the Switch 1. The exact cost and features vary on a case-by-base basis. Some are simple bumps to resolution and frame rate, some have new quality-of-life enhancements and compatibility with the Switch 2's new features, and some are including a whole new batch of content as if it was a DLC expansion!

With this new path opened up, could we see a Switch 2 Edition of Smash Ultimate as well? But how possible is it? What features could it have? And how far could they go with any additional content that might or might not be included? Let's take a deep dive and see what we can find out!
